Thomas O'Toole,

The pet shop purchased moggy with a mean streak as long as his tail.

Charlie O'Marley,

The pampered puss with a taste for the finer things in life and a waistline to match.

Lola Fannola,

The Free-cycle kitty.  What she lacks in brains and grace, she makes up for in beauty.

The Damned Woman,

Disher of food, opener of doors, hindrance to cats everywhere.

Cats where always part of my childhood, until my late teens.  It wasn't until November 2005 when I was able to welcome another fluffy feline master into my life.  My husband and I came across Thomas O'Toole in a local pet shop whilst shopping, we were expecting our first child together and had recently moved into our flat.  What could be more perfect than a sweet little kitten to curl up on your lap in the evenings?

We didn't get what we wanted.  From day one Thomas terrorised our household, including our black Labrador Shen.  In 2008 we moved to a larger home and in 2009 the opportunity to add another cat to the family arose.  A friend's cat had recently had kittens and enquired whether we would be able to home one.  I was enthusiastic, my husband less so.  Finally he relented, on one condition, the new kitten had to be called Charlie.  And so Charlie O'Marley joined the family.

From the very beginning it was obvious that Charlie had a taste for the finer things in life and would refuse to eat until his food was garnished with tuna.  A habit that proved difficult to break.  We had no choice but to make him go cold turkey, or cold tuna.  He made his displeasure known by bringing home empty tins of tuna he had fished out of other people's bins.

A few weeks after we had welcomed Charlie into out home, my husband came across an advert for a grey kitten on Free-cycle, a local item recycling website.  We e-mailed the advertiser, not expecting to hear back.  We then received a reply, Lola was ours if we'd have her.

When she came to us she was complete feral and mistrusting of humans.  For the first week she hid under the sofa only to emerge when food was offered.  We used this love of food to win her over.  Lola has formed a very strong bond with my eldest daughter, who has autism.

I started blogging not long after Charlie and Lola had arrived.  At first it was to simply record them growing up.  I never imagined that other people would visit, let alone read or comment on my blog.  Soon after I stumbled across the Catblogosphere and the rest as they say, is history.
