Finally Flea Free Friday

You're all itchy now just looking at that, right?

Last night the Mum managed to corner us and give us the dreaded flea treatment. She uses the spot on flea treatment where you part the cat's furs and squeeze a drop of liquid onto the skin at the back of the neck.

The Mum says only someone very silly thought it would be a good idea to attempt to put a drop of liquid anywhere on a cat. She also says that her idea and the flea treatment company's idea of a drop of liquid are two completely different things. At one point she thought she was going to run out of cat!

Of course we have all placed her in Ignoresville for the foreseeable future.

However, we would like to remind all our kitty and doggy friends about the importance of keeping up with your flea treatment, even though the colder months, as they humans like to turn the hots on in the house and this makes the perfect environment for the fleas to live and breed. Only a few fleas can turn into a very serious infestation within a matter of weeks.

Oh and you indoor kitties should also make sure you have regular flea treatments as well as fleas can hitch rides on clothing and other fabrics

Lets all have a itch free autumn and winter.

  1. Yeah.....we have to put up with that stuff too. But Momma says if we don't let her put it on us then we can't go Outside. We think it's worth it!

  4. Mom gives me stuff that is good for fleas, ticks, ear mites, and lots of other things. Then she puts a sticker on the calendar to remind her to give me some more the next month.

I have mostly roosters at my house. I have to keep them away from all the foxes we also have.

  6. That was good information about the darn fleas. You do have to keep up the treatment all winter. We get that liquid stuff on us too. Mom treats the house with some non poison stuff that works really well.
    Have a great day.

  8. My human won't use chemicals so she uses a natural flea kill on the house. It's been years since we've had a flea (and the last time was after a friend brought her dog into the house to visit). I feel very fortunate.

  9. Nicki freaks--totally freaks--so mom puts him in one of the top-loading carriers and gets him that way. But she does that only a couple of times over the spring/summer, because of the chemicals. Knock on wood, we've never had a problem and we hope we never do.

We're glad you're all flea-free! At least with our cold Canadian weather there's no chance of fleas from late fall through mid to late springs.

  10. We are inside kitties so we have only had fleas once! (We are lucky!) Our mom gets bitten by fleas really badly so she can always tell when they are around - plus she uses a flea comb to check us every once in a while.

  11. Well, we don't get flea treatments because of our indoor status - that and here in the area we are at we think there are less of them just hanging around (plus our mom and dad aren't really outside in grass and stuff). But we do think it is a great idea for all the kitties who need it!

  12. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Kitty Horde says, "Ick! We hates Pernicious Fleas but mom hasn't been able to get the Dreaded Drops for awhile. She bought some of the Suspicious Shampoo but hasn't had the energy to close us in the bathroom yet. ::shudder:: But the Pernicious Fleas are starting up again badly enough we might just put up with it. ::shudder::"

  14. We've been lucky that we've never had fleas...well, Ernie and Zoey did when they were little and they both got the dreaded flea treatment. But I've alwasy lived inside and never have gotten fleas. That's good advice, though, and aren't you glad that it's over now??

  15. We all have the willies now...mol!

Thankfully (only because we hate gettin the flea stuffs put on) we don't have a flea problem here (knocks paw on wood). We read in a book, think it was Eco Dog or something like that, that ants eat flea larvae in the yard... and we have ants up the wazzoo here!

  17. Luckily where we live, fleas are very rare so I dont need it too often, I often find tho that the little tube for dogs is too much for even a middle sized dog like me!!!!!

  18. We just had ours too. We get it on the 1st of every month but only every other month through the winter. Mum agrees about running out of cat for the amount of liquid.

  19. We get our Revolution on the first of every month...and even without furs, it's sometimes a squirmy application process...
