What A Bee Brain!

Now that the weather has become cooler the bees that frequent our plants have become rather dopey and slow to react.

It has now become Charlie's favourite pastime to catch these bees and taunt them before attempting to EAT them! Of course not only is this a silly thing to do, it is a dangerous thing to do. Bee stings to the mouth or throat in cat can prove to be fatal. The only trouble is somewhere along the line Charlie failed to get the memo.

Just yesterday I had to throw a small jug of water over Charlie before he would stop in his attempts to devour a sleepy bee! However this hasn't put him off his pursuit of the small and fuzzy. He has even on occasion brought them into the house so he can munch undisturbed by Lola. Is he at all concerned about the stress and worry he is causing? No....

Yeah, whatever!

Charlie here. In my defence I would just like to say that I am not taunting these bees. I am simply taking my job as protector of our house very seriously and anything the flies, scuttles, slithers or crawls will be dealt with in the more severe manner, including bees. It has nothing to do with the fact that they tickle my nose, or the fact they taste fuzzy and are nice and crunchy. That is all.

Thank you.

  6. Charlie, your mom is right, DO NOT EAT BEES! A bee sting is very bad but even worse if it is after eating it! Your mom should show you over on Milo and Alfie's blog when Alfie got stung by the eye - it will make you think twice about eating anything with a stinger!

But I will add that it is nice that you try and protect everyone from the bugs - because bugs are gross!

  13. Charlie, that is not a good idea. Bees hurt lots when they sting you. I got stung when I was young and then I was afraid to go outdoors for several days after.

  14. Charlie, I have only one thing to say to you and that is "BEE CAREFUL"!

Charlie is probably only escaping harm because the bees are so sluggish. I'm just curious because I saw the same thing here. Does that mean they are about to die? I mean bees don't have a very long life span anyway, do they?
