9-11 Never Forget

We will remember them.

Mum cannot believe it is 9 years ago that the awful events of 9-11 happened. In some ways it feels like it only happened yesterday and in some ways it feels like it happened a life time ago.

Mum can remember the day it happened vividly. She was at home with Pre-Teen Bean who was then only 3 years old. Her mum phoned her from work and told her people were saying that a plane had hit the World Trade Centre. Mum told her mum not to be so silly, but turned the news on anyway, just in time to see the second plane hit. It was then everyone here realised that it was not an accident.

At that time Mum lived under the major flight route to Heathrow Airport and only a few minutes from Windsor and Windsor Castle. All planes were grounded and fighter jets scrambled to protect Windsor Castle. Mum will never forget the eerie silence that followed.

Today our thoughts and prayers are will all the innocent people who lost their lives and their friends and families who continue to live their own personal hell.

  1. It seems like so long ago...and yet not. Momma was in her hometown on the coast and remembers going to work, but everyone was so stunned that they all went home. In the harbour the Coast Guard had all their boats out, sealing off the entrance...it was scary.
Today we're all going to pray and purr for everyone who's life was affected or lost as a result of this tragedy.

  4. One of my memories is the silence in the skies, too; except the planes from Nellis AFB parolling Lake Mead & Hoover Dam, it was eerily silent.
    Purring and praying for Peace.

  7. Today is a day we wish we could forget, knowing yes, that we will always remember, need to remember those lives lost...

I was in Oregon, my husband was already here in Virginia, working in DC. I was terrified as I didn't know how close he might be to the Pentagon. I couldn't get a hold of him, he finally called in the late afternoon when he finally was able to get through...I flew out to be with him 3 days later.
