Stupid Rules Sunday

The Mum here. First off all I would like to thank everyone for the purrs and well wishes, it really means a lot!

I thought I would give everyone an update on the situation.

Yesterday I went to my surgical appointment at the local hospital. There I had to show the mole to two different doctors. I was then told that it wasn't a mole, but a Plastoma (a change in the skin cells, but not usually a cancerous change) and due to new rules and the fact that it is classed as suspicious, they were not allowed to remove it at this appointment.

So I would have to go away and come back to the same hospital to see the same surgeon in two weeks time for it to be removed. The surgeon did lament the stupid rule and stated while he was 'pretty sure' it wasn't cancerous, he recommended I have it removed sooner rather then later.

As I am sure everyone can understand this has left me feeling upset, frustrated and a little angry. I just want to get rid of this thing as I feel it's taking over my life. Not only that, but surely not removing the Plastoma at that appointment and making another one has cost our NHS money that it can ill afford

Hopefully soon it will be all over.

Thanks again

  1. Don't you love how the "rules" are supposed to improve things? I swear, it's just to line some bureaucratic pockets, somehow.

It's great new, though, that the surgeon doesn't feel it's cancerous. That, at least, must help ease your mind, at least somewhat.

Lots of (((hugs))) and healing Light and purrs from the Fuzzy Tales crew too!

  2. Purrs and prayers. At least you can stop worrying a bit. Not that you won't worry until it is removed! I'm sorry you have to wait so long.

  4. That is just ridiculous. No wonder the country is in the state that it is.We are sorry that you have to worry for another two weeks. At least the surgeon is pretty sure it isn't cancerous, but that won't stop you worrying until it is gone.

  5. Yes, it can be quite frustrating going to the hospital seeing the surgeon thinking that you are going to get the procedure done and then finding out you must come back. My mom firmly believes this is a result of the insurance stuff - too many hoops to jump through for the doctors!

I'm purring and mom is praying that it will be fine and not cancerous.

  8. Aaaaarrrggghhh! Stupid rules. At least it wasn't a colonoscopy! Imagine doing the "prep" for THAT twice.
Try not to worry about the plastoma...my Dad has had a bunch of those removed and they were all non-cancerous.

  13. We are so sorry that you have to wait...and that 'the rules' are such that you have to wait...

We FEAR that in our country these types of changes are right around the corner...all in the name of "CHANGE".

Me, I prefer to keep things the way they are.

    *sigh*

    OFF my soapbox now.

We will keep you in our purrayers and send healing purrs your way...

  15. We're quite confused that something that is suspicious can't be removed--does that mean if it hadn't been suspicious it could have been? Hmm... Ah well. Our purrs.

  16. Obviously, whoever made up that rule has never been caught up in it. We're sending you more purrs until you get it taken care of!

  19. The mom speaks:

I so understand how frustrating that was. Sometimes the rules and regulations of the NHS go beyond silly ~ no wonder the NHS is nearly bankrupt. Stay cool though ~ 'cos it sounds like good news overall. (((((hugs)))))

Milo and Alfie send you purrs.
